Guide for Authors

The Egyptian Journal of Rabbit Science pertaining to The Egyptian Association of Rabbit Science is published two times a year.

 Form and style of manuscripts:

- Papers submitted written in English should tackle. Rabbit Production sciences, in an original way.  Review papers in subjects of general interest and a "News and Notes" sections may be published.  

- Manuscripts of 3 copies on one column should be typed (Times New Roman, Font 12 regular) double spaced on quarto size with wide margins. Page format is A-4 size. The manuscript should not be longer than 10 pages, double space, including tables, figures and references.

 - Following the title, author (s) name (s) (with initials preceding) and address(es), articles are often divided into the following sections: Abstracts (not more than 250 words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgment(s) and References and all should be written in Font 12 Bold and begin with a capital letter. Sub-titles are written in italics.

 - Keywords of not more than five keywords, Font   12 italic, are written after the English Abstract.

- Tables, figures and plates (photos) should be located within the text, each is numbered consecutively and discussed. -Plates should be high gloss-prints of good contrast.

-In the Text, References of one or two Authors should be by their Surnames and year. References of more than two names are shown as the Surname of the first Author and et al. In the List of References,  References should have an alphabetical order giving: Surname(s) and abbreviated first name(s) of the Author(s), year, title of the paper, name of the Journal (i.e. place of publication) complete (not abbreviated), number of the volume, numbers of the first and last pages. For books, title and place of publication (and location of the Conference in Proceedings) should be mentioned.

- Latin names in the Text and titles of books,  Journals and Proceedings in the List of References should be written in Italics.  

- Weights and measures must be expressed in the metric system and temperatures in centigrade.

- Enumerations zero to ten are written in letters, e.g. zero, one, two,…etc. Values greater than ten or that followed by abbreviated units are written in Arabic numerals, e.g. 49 wk.

- All pages including those of tables, plates and figures must be numbered and should be its size 13 by 20 cm.

- The definitive draft typed and recorded on a DVD- ROM should be submitted in Microsoft Word (any version). An e-mail attach copy would be forwarded beside the three printed copies.

- Author (s) are requested to send names of five referees of the leading scientists specialized in the field of the study.

Article Processing Charges:

- The costs of publication for Egyptians are 250   L.E. (Egyptian – nonmembers) and 200 L.E. (Egyptian –members), and each extra page will be charged 15. LE. more. For non-Egyptians, the costs will be 50 and 5 USD, respectively. Plates (photos) will be published B & W, otherwise, authors will be asked for true color cost.

-  Annual dues for The Egyptian Association of Rabbit Science is 100 L.E for Egyptians and 60 USD for non-Egyptians, including the two numbers of the Journal and their postage costs. Dues are payable in advance, each year, to the Association.  Account No. for non - Egyptian is 41060100011051 Kahira Bank, Zagazig Branch, Zagazig, Egypt.

- Scientific, cultural and social activities, as well as, tourism and safari will be of the interests of the Association.

Authors should kindly note that submission implies that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a brief abstract in the proceedings of a scientific meeting or symposium.

Once the submission materials have been prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines, manuscripts should be submitted online at https://ejrs.journals.ekb.eg/

The submission system will prompt authors to use an ORCID iD (a unique author identifier) to help distinguish their work from that of other researchers.

By submitting a manuscript to, or reviewing for, this publication, your name, email address, institutional affiliation, and other contact details the publication might require, will be used for the regular operations of the publication, including, when necessary, sharing with the publisher and partners for production and publication. Manuscript categories and requirements

Original Articles

Original articles represent the most common form of articles published in the journal. Typically they describe the results of experiments carried out in order to test a novel hypothesis. Original articles should contain the following sections: Summary, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, References.

Review Articles

The journal welcomes review articles on topics of high current interest within the scope of the journal. Review articles must also include a Summary, Introduction and References, but the other headings may be chosen depending on the structure of the article.

Short Communications

Short communications are brief articles that present particularly novel or exciting results, introduce new theories or ideas, or offer new methodological approaches. This format provides an opportunity for authors to (a) provide important results in concise form or (b) introduce significant new concepts or methods that are supported by a limited empirical data set. The papers should be highly original and represent ideas that will challenge current paradigms or approaches. They should stimulate thought, serving as precursors to new research programs or working groups. In these manuscripts, the headings required for original articles may be omitted, but the structure of the paper should more or less be the same. The length of the short communication should not exceed 3500 words plus 1-2 tables or figures.

Symposium Papers

Invited Papers 

Invited papers are subject to review, and all manuscript style and form guidelines of the journal shall be followed. Invited papers are exempt from page charges.

Invited Reviews 

Invited Reviews will be approximately 10 published pages and in a review format. Nominations or suggestions for potential timely reviews are welcomed and should be sent directly to the editor-in-chief.

Contemporary Issues 

Contemporary Issues will address critical issues facing rabbit scientists and the rabbit industry. As such, submissions to this section should be of interest to any rabbit scientist, to the industry, to instructors and faculty teaching contemporary issues classes, and to undergraduate and graduate students. The section will consist of short papers (approximately 2 published pages) written in essay format and will include an abstract, appropriate subheadings, and references.

Book Reviews 

A limited number of book reviews will publish in rabbit Science. Book reviews shall be prepared in accordance to the style and form requirements of the journal, and they are subject to editorial revision.

Letters to the Editor 

The purpose of letters will be to discuss, critique, or expand on scientific points made in articles recently published in rabbit Science. Introduction of unpublished data will not be allowed, nor will material based on conjectures or speculation. Letters must be received within 6 months of an article's publication. Letters will be limited to 400 words and 5 references. The author(s) of the original paper(s) will be provided a copy of the letter and offered the opportunity to submit for consideration a reply within 30 days. Replies will have the same page restrictions and format as letters, and the titles shall end with "Reply".  Letters and replies will be published together. Letters and replies shall follow appropriate EJRS formatting and may be edited by the editor-in-chief and a technical editor. If multiple letters on the same topic are received, a representative letter concerning a specific article may be published. Letters and replies will be published as space permits.

Conflict of interest Statement

Authors will be asked to provide a conflict of interest statement during the submission process. Authors should ensure they liaise with all co-authors to confirm agreement with the final statement.

Publication Frequency

Egyptian Journal of Rabbit Science published a volume of 2 issues per year.

The main subject areas include: breeding and genetics; nutrition; physiology and functional biology; welfare, behavior and health management (welfare and behavior; health management); rabbit farming systems; quality of rabbit products.
